Reptar/ Body Faucet

i love the rugrats, chucky was always my favourite. i saw the movie on the big screen. both of them. bought the sound track too. that’s how much i love it. now my new favourite band is reptar –might have a connection to my love of the rugrats. ill let you decide that.
they hail from athens, georgia. home of the mightly georgian bulldogs. football fan too. also might have something to do with why i love them so much.
anyways, they have just released their debut LP Reptar/ Body Faucet May, 2012

so we got andy mcfarland on drums, ryan engelberger on bass and will kennedy on sweet keys (you can just tell he’s the hot one) and graham ulicny on guitar and vocals. (i think last names are important – shows where we come from)
there something bout their psychedelic –indy-african beat-pop-post punk music that is so uplifting yet lacks the pretension that comes from artist that try to push the boundaries of the musical realms.  on their website they talk about their lyrics and music that flows in a liquid form from real places, each song oozing with a different color and substance.
"we wanted to capture the thoughts we project on our surroundings and the ideas that flow in and out of us each day," says graham
and with lyrics like “when i recite your name only the good things remain” how can you not feel happy! i feel i should mention somthing about the depth to their music, an underlying tone of honesty but i really just find it fun.
i hear a bit of klaxons in there, a bit of vamipre weekend and a dash of two door cinema club, and why the name "reptar", well, they say its because it was second most stupid name they have heard of.
the first was “invisible boyfriend”. i tend to agree.
